Cosmetic or dental bonding is a procedure that is often used to make minor repairs to a chipped tooth, or stained or cracked tooth. It can also be used to close small spaces or gaps between the teeth. During this procedure the surface of the chipped tooth is lightly etched, and a bonding liquid is applied to adhere the putty-like resin to the tooth. Dr. Merlo-Quiñones can then shape, mold, and polish the bonding resin giving it a beautiful and natural appearance. The entire process is completed by applying a light to harden the bonding material to make it more durable. One of the main advantages of cosmetic or dental bonding, is that unlike other dental procedures that require the use of a laboratory, it can be completed in one short office visit.
